2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile VIRTUAL Race

P3R and our partners at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh have closely monitored the situation with COVID-19 over the last few months and we are excited to announce that the 2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile will become a virtual event! This isnít how we expected this yearís event to take place, but we are ecstatic to be able to cheer you on as you complete your virtual mile safely.

We are also excited to announce that this yearís virtual event will feature the FIRST EVER Fleet Feet Liberty Mile race medal! As a virtual participant, youíll earn both the race medal and shirt. You will have the option to pick up your medal and shirt for free at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh (located at 1751 N Highland Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241, dates TBD) or have your medal and shirt shipped to you for just $5.

The Fleet Feet Liberty Mile is all about challenging yourself and having FUN! Youíll have from July 20 to August 7, 2020 to complete your virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile. Weíll be sharing contests and activities for runners of all ages and abilities on social media and via email throughout the virtual event! Donít forget to use #libertymile and tag @RUNwithP3R and @fleetfeetpitt on social media so we can follow along and celebrate your virtual race with you! Whether youíre running your very first mile, trying to PR, or plan to cross your own special finish line as a family ó weíll be here cheering for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

If I decide to run virtually, when will I receive my medal and shirt?
We expect to be able to ship race shirts and medals by July 15, 2020.
Iím already registered. What are my options?
You have three options for the virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile:
  1. Run virtually and pick up my medal and shirt at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh (this will happen automatically if you do not edit your registration in Race Roster by June 5, 2020)
  2. Run virtually and have my medal and shirt shipped to me
  3. Request a refund of my registration fee, less any processing fees
​​​ You will need to go into your Race Roster account and make your selection by June 5, 2020. If you do not edit your registration by June 5, you will automatically be switched to option 1 (run virtually and pick up your medal and shirt at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh).

I want a refund. How do I get it?
Any runner who wishes to have their race registration (less processing fees) refunded will need to access their Race Roster account and edit their event registration no later than June 5, 2020.
  1. Sign in to your Race Roster account
  2. Click the blue Edit Registration button
  3. Under the Registrations Questions tab, select ďRefund.Ē
  4. Click Save & Exit to finalize your choice.†
If you registered multiple runners, you will need to repeat this process for all registrations.†

If you register after Thursday, May 21, you will not be able to request a refund.
My credit card or bank information has changed since I registered and I'd like a refund. What do I do?
Please email info@p3r.org for assistance with changing your bank or credit card information BEFORE June 5, 2020.
Iím already registered and want to pick up my medal and shirt from Fleet Feet Pittsburgh. What do I do?
You donít need to do anything! You will automatically be switched to the virtual event with your medal and shirt pickup at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh (1751 N Highland Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241, dates TBD).
Iím already registered and want to have my medal and shirt shipped to me. What do I do?
Any runner who wishes to run virtually and have their shirt and medal mailed to them will need to access their Race Roster account and edit their event registration no later than June 5, 2020.

How do I run virtually?
You can complete the 2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile in any place that works for you from July 20 through August 7, 2020. It can be done outdoors, at a track, or even on the treadmill! You can run it as fast or slow as you like. The Fleet Feet Liberty Mile is all about challenging yourself and having FUN!
Who can sign up for the virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile?
ANYONE can sign up! This one-mile virtual race is perfect for all ages and abilities.†
Which heat should I choose?
Here are the suggested heats for the Fleet Feet Liberty Mile:
  • Fleet Feet One for Fun Heat: A one-mile run for everyone!
  • Pup Trot Heat: Open to dogs and owners of all ages!
  • Kids of Steel Heat: Perfect for kids 13 years or younger!
  • FedEx Corporate Challenge Heat: Challenge your coworkers to run their fastest mile!
  • UPMC Health Plan Masters Heat: For competitive milers age 40+ who can run an 8-minute mile or under!
  • Brooks Unstoppable Heat: For competitive milers age 14-39 who can run a 6-minute mile or under!
Where do I submit my results?
More details about submitting your results will be coming soon!
Will the results be verified?
No, results for the virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile will not be verified and there will not be official awards or course records. However, there will be contests and other fun prizes on social media!
Can my child run the Fleet Feet Liberty Mile if they are not part of a Kids of STEEL team meeting this summer?
Yes! This is a great family activity where everyone can earn the FIRST-EVER Fleet Feet Liberty Mile race medal. Kids of STEEL will release a special training guide to help kids of ages to get ready for their virtual race day. Plus, the Fleet Feet Liberty Mile is the second race for kids to compete to earn the Kids of Challenge Medal (2020 Virtual Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, 2020 Virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile, 2020 Dollar Bank Junior Great Race).
I donated to Kids of STEEL as part of my registration. Will that be refunded?†
No, we are unable to refund any charitable donations. As a nonprofit organization, P3R invests in the youngest members of our running community, year round. Though some of our largest kid-friendly events are not taking place this spring, funds are needed to remove barriers to participation in the Kids of STEEL program and all other family-friendly P3R events, as well as other youth initiatives we lead to encourage kids and families to make physical activity fun and part of their daily lives.†
Iím a Gold Level P3R Insider and Iím already registered. Do I need to do anything?
If you are planning to pick up your medal and shirt at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh, you donít need to do anything! If you would like your medal and shirt to be shipped to you, youíll need to make this selection in your Race Roster account by June 5, 2020.
I received a free race entry as a prize, but I donít want to race virtually. Can I defer that registration to next year?
All runners have the same options: race with us virtually in 2020 or receive a refund. Since you received your registration for free, we canít offer you a refund. You will automatically be enrolled in the virtual option, but will need to login to your Race Roster account to choose whether youíd like to pick up your medal and shirt at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh or have them shipped to you.†
Iím hoping to earn the #RUNwithP3R Challenge medal in 2020. Do I have to run virtually to be eligible?
Yes, the 2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile is the second piece of the 2020 #RUNwithP3R Challenge (which also includes the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler (date TBD)). If a runner who participated in a 2020 Virtual DICKíS Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon event wants to earn the #RUNwithP3R Challenge medal, he/she/they will also need to complete the virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile in 2020.
